Custom Pig Robe

This project was a silly but fun one. My parents have a pet pig, the adorable Peanut, and my mom wanted me to make a custom robe for her. She tends to get cold in the winter, so they wanted something she could wear around the house. Peanut often likes to get under blankets then walk around with them over her, so my inspiration was a robe that felt like a blanket more than a robe. My mom’s inspiration was the fashion of Miss Piggy, which led to the pastel purple fabric and butt bow.

To design this piece I had to get Peanut’s measurements and create a pattern without her present. I occasionally used my dog Nina to help get an idea of sizing, but they are not built the same. Once Peanut finally tried it on, and I could see it actually fit, I felt very relieved and happy with how it turned out.
