The Visitor

July 2025

This is an original painting I made to be featured in Spectra Art Space’s Curated Cryptids gallery show. Done with acrylic, glow-in-the-dark pigment, and probably a few dogs hairs on stretched canvas.

This cryptid is from my home state of Iowa, and was first spotted in 1903. Legend says it’s an extinct creature that survived hundreds of years underground and was released during mining. Witnessed said it was a huge flying beast with a beam of light that shone from one of the horns on its heads. When chased by townsfolk it returned to the mines and seemingly disappeared.

Additional & Process Images:

Glow in the dark pigment was used on the beam of light coming from its head and on the sparkles.
